Basketball: Manual Treadmills
June 23rd, 2008When youre creating an at-home gym, you might want to consider manual treadmills for your cardio workout. Theyre cheaper than the motorized ones and are just as effective. The goal is to get a good workout, and you dont need the fanciest equipment to do it. The motorized treadmills might give you extras that the manual treadmills wont, but youll have to spend more for them, and those extras arent even necessary.
Frankly, going out for a run or walk is just as good as using a treadmill, but sometimes this isnt as practical. If you live in an area with a harsh climate, or you can only workout late at night, the treadmill is a great tool to have in your home. Its nice that you can set it up in front of your television, so you can watch shows or movies while you exercise. This is a great way to get your mind off of the hard work youre doing!
You Set the Pace in with Manual Treadmills
When you use motorized treadmills, you need to program the machine to set the pace at which you want to walk or run. It can be useful when you want to fabricate hills or a faster pace, but you can do this just as well with manual treadmills. In fact, you can set the pace as you go.
After warming up at a slower pace, your heart rate will be at a higher level and youll be ready to speed up. You can easily alternate from walking faster or running to slowing down again, intermittently. This way, you can decide how much you want to challenge yourself as you go.
